刑事部捜査一課・広橋班班長の広橋航（尾上菊之助）は、またの名を『捜1のハシビロコウ』と呼ばれ、犯人の気配を捕らえる姿が獲物を狙うハシビロコウに似ていることからそのあだ名がついた。ある日、広橋が強盗殺人犯を追っていたところ、犯人確保まであと一歩というところで邪魔が入る。労務管理コンサルタントの九路五月（玉城ティナ）だ。夕方の5時なので業務を終了し、夜勤の人と交代しろと言い出す。世の中で働き方改革が進むなか、警視庁の中でも特に勤務状況が悪い広橋班がこの度、『新しい働き方推進モデル班』に指定され、コンサルタントの五月が入って改善していくという。 　　働き方改革を余儀なくされ戸惑うなか、広橋のもとに料理教室の人気講師、越谷（賀集利樹）の殺害事件の連絡が入る。そこで広橋は、勤務終了後のアフター5に料理教室の体験レッスンに参加して探りを入れることに。一方で、部下たちから、越谷と同じ料理教室の講師で過去に関係があったという西条エリナ（りんごちゃん）の名前が容疑者として挙がり、さらに越谷の部屋からは料理教室の受講者ら複数女性の卑猥な画像が発見され、越谷の素顔が明らかになっていく。 　　そんな中、受講者の1人、笠原真由子が越谷の子どもを妊娠したうえにかなりの金額を越谷に貸していたことが判明するが、すでに1年前に亡くなっていた。そこで、真由子と親しかったという増川琴美（北乃きい）を調べるため、広橋は再びアフター5を利用して、琴美が通うアルゼンチンタンゴの教室を訪れる。すると、そこに偶然通っていた広橋の妻、三菜子（星野真里）とばったり会い、話の流れで本格的に教室に通うことに――。
